Bodrum has been an important port for thousands of years. Parts of the old city wall are still standing and the Western Gate to the city was recently restored. Home of King Mausoleus, the Mausoleum is one of the wonders of the ancient world.
A fine example of a Crusader Castle dominates the harbor area sitting proudly between two bays that make up the center of Bodrum. Bars and restaurants line the shoreside all the way to the international marina, mooring for many yachts whose owners use Bodrum as home base.
